About... two-ish months ago my oldest turned five and requested a
dinosaur party. This was the resulting cake. It was inspired by a
picture I saw on Google that had no instructions and no working link to
the original image. So... this is what I came up with. I'm no artist,
but my little guy was happy with how it turned out.
Here's our BIG five-year old in his dino party attire:
Not a dino fan? Try the regular Cookies' n' Cream version of this cake. Don't forget the Cookies n Cream ice cream!
Cookies' n' Cream Cake
Oreo Frosting
Recipe adapted from Food.com
-1/2 cup butter, softened
-8 ounces cream cheese, softened
-8 ounces cream cheese, softened
-4 cups powdered sugar
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-1 -5 tablespoon milk
-1 1/2 cups crushed Oreo cookies
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-1 -5 tablespoon milk
-1 1/2 cups crushed Oreo cookies
Cream butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until smooth. Add milk 1 Tbsp at a time until your frosting is spreadable. Stir in Oreo's. Use to frost cake.
*For Velociraptor skeleton cake, lay the first cake on a cake plate and spread the top with frosting. Place the second cake on top and frost the entire top and sides of cake with frosting.
Cover completely with extra Oreo crumbs for "dirt'. Pipe on a skeleton with ivory colored frosting. (I made half of this recipe and tinted it with Americolor ivory.) I just printed off a picture of a velociraptor skeleton and free-handed piping it on. It wasn't perfect, but toothpicks and practice helped. Garnish with jelly bean rocks.
