Chocolate-dipped Toffee Pretzels

These are one of my favorite treats to make at Christmas time.  You can drizzle them with red, white, and green candy melts, or top them with anything from toffee bits to crushed Oreo.

Delish!

Chocolate-dipped Toffee Pretzels

-Large thick pretzels
-High quality milk chocolate chips, or milk chocolate bars with a good "snap"*
-Heath "chips" (found in the baking aisle with the chocolate chips), or a chopped Heath bar or two*

Chop your chocolate.  (If you're using chocolate chips, omit this step.)

In a medium bowl, melt your chocolate in the microwave at 50% power, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.  Do not overheat!!

Use a dipping fork to dip the pretzel down into the chocolate, flip over, and pull straight back out of the chocolate.  Tap the fork on the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.

Place pretzel on a parchment-lined tray and sprinkle on heath chips while still wet.  Repeat for each pretzel. Move tray to freezer for 10-15 minutes to set completely.

Pretzels can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature, but if they melt (most likely if you use chocolate chips), just store them in the fridge until serving.

*One bag of chocolate chips will cover about 6 pretzels.  One standard-sized chocolate bar will cover about 3 pretzels.  If you want to use real chocolate, buying a large chunk in bulk is your most economical option. One Heath bar will cover about 3 pretzels.  One bag of Heath chips should cover 8-12 pretzels.
