The Christmas music is playing at my house today and the 4 boxes of Christmas decor are all hanging out in the laundry room waiting for that pesky Thanksgiving holiday to be over.
(kidding. but not entirely.)
Christmas is great. People are nice and I get to buy lots of things and travel and husband gets to take off work. I am religious so more than anything I love that most of the Christian world focuses on the Savior at this time. What's not to love about it?
That said, I'm obviously having a panic attack about all these Halloween treats that I made last month that I REALLY want to share with you. ((But that I also REALLY want to get out of the way so holiday baking can begin.)
Get ready for a posting marathon my friends!
Candy Corn Krispy Treat Bites
Recipe adapted from Rice Krispy Treats box and Kitchen Koala
-6 Tbsp butter
-2, 10-oz packages, mini marshmallows (20 oz total)
-12 cups Rice Krispies cereal, divided
-Orange, white, and yellow gel food coloring
In large saucepan melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until just melted and combined. Remove pan from heat.
Stir yellow food coloring into one saucepan, orange into another, and white into another. You want nice deep colors because when mixed with the Rice Krispies it will mute slightly. Add 4 cups of Rice Krispies to each saucepan. Stir.
Press the yellow krispies into the bottom of a well greased 13x9 inch pan. Top with the orange rice krispies (spread them evenly before pressing down so you don't ruin the yellow layer). Press gently. Top with the white rice krispies. Allow to cool and set for about 6 hours.
Remove entire rice krispy treat block from pan. Slice off edges if you wish. Cut krispies into strips, then cut each strip into small triangles to make candy corn shapes.
