We have a birthday tradition at our house of waking up to a donut cake on the morning of your birthday. We stick a candle in the top of the "cake", sing Happy Birthday, and dig in. I think it's a great way to begin a birthday. (sugar = happiness in my world)
This year I thought Chase probably needed a birthday-rimmed glass of milk to go along with his donut cake. These rims could easily be adapted for any holiday by varying the color of nonpareils/sprinkles.
Birthday Rims
-Nonpareils or sprinkles
Melt your candy melts in a small bowl at 50% power, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted. Dip the rim of a glass straight down into the chocolate (just as deep as you want your rim to be).
Lift straight back up and immediately dip into a bowl full of nonpareils or sprinkles. Rotate gently if needed to pick up sprinkles on all parts of the rim (do not grind rim on bottom of bowl!)
Turn upright and allow to set at room temperature or in the fridge. Fill glass carefully with milk to serve.
